Tolu Arokodare scored shortly after coming on to earn Ajax a 2-2 draw against Excelsior in their Eredivisie home match on Saturday night.
Ajax took the lead two minutes after the half-hour mark when Julian Brandt found the net. Excelsior responded before the interval, with Lennar Hartjes equalising in first-half stoppage time.
The visitors then completed the turnaround 17 minutes into the second half. Aymen Sliti put Excelsior 2-1 ahead in the 62nd minute, giving the visitors the lead for the first time.
Ajax’s response was immediate. Arokodare replaced Kasper Dolberg and levelled two minutes later to secure a point for the home side.
The goal was the Nigeria international’s sixth for Ajax across all competitions this season.
The result leaves Ajax second in the Eredivisie, with 14 points from seven matches.
Michel’s side will next return to league action on Saturday, October 10, when they host NEC Nijmegen.
