Super Falcons defender Michelle Alozie has reportedly deactivated her Instagram account following intense criticism from Nigerian fans after the team failed to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.
Nigeria endured a disappointing campaign at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, exiting in the quarter-finals after a 1-0 defeat to Cameroon. The result meant the Falcons had to beat South Africa in a subsequent play-in fixture to keep their World Cup hopes alive.
However, Nigeria suffered a 2-1 defeat to Banyana Banyana, bringing an end to their hopes of reaching the tournament and ending their record of appearing at every edition of the Women’s World Cup since 1991.
The disappointing results triggered widespread criticism of the players, coaching staff and Nigeria Football Federation, with Alozie, a regular member of the national team, also coming under scrutiny.
