Sudanese giants Al Hilal have rejected an initial offer from South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns for Nigerian striker Sunday Adetunji, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Sundowns are looking to reinforce their attacking department ahead of the new season and have identified the former Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) forward as one of their priority transfer targets.
Although Al Hilal turned down the opening proposal, the South African champions remain determined to secure the Nigerian's signature and are reportedly preparing an improved bid worth more than $1.5 million.
Adetunji has attracted attention with his impressive displays for Al Hilal, establishing himself as one of the club's key attacking players and drawing interest from several clubs across the continent.
Mamelodi Sundowns are expected to intensify negotiations in the coming days as they continue their pursuit of the prolific Nigerian forward.
