Despite enjoying home advantage, Abia Warriors struggled to create meaningful opportunities during the opening stages, with Kun Khalifat maintaining a compact defensive shape to frustrate their opponents.
Warriors head coach Imama Amapakabo handed competitive debuts to six recruits, with Kelvin Ihunwo, Osimaga Duke, Effimi Nsi, Emmanuel Nnaji, Seyi Oguntayo and Chidiebere Nnachi all included in the starting lineup.
It was the third meeting between the two sides, but neither team gained the upper hand as the first half ended without a goal.
Abia Warriors came out with greater purpose after the restart and increased the pressure on the visitors.

Their best opportunity came deep into stoppage time when Israel Joseph produced a curling effort that looked destined to find the net.
Kun Khalifat goalkeeper Akuchie Obinna, however, reacted brilliantly to keep out the attempt and preserve a valuable point for the visitors.
Akuchie was one of the standout performers for Kun Khalifat, making several important saves throughout the encounter as Abia Warriors struggled to find a way through the visitors' defence.
The goalless result means both teams begin the new NPFL campaign with a point, although Abia Warriors will be disappointed not to have converted their late pressure into a winning goal.
Abia Warriors will now shift attention to their next league assignment when they travel to Kaduna to face newly promoted Ranchers Bees.
