Former Nigeria national team, coach Gernot Rohr has predicted that the Super Eagles will emerge victorious against DR Congo in Sunday's 2026 World Cup qualifying playoff final in Rabat, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Rohr, who currently handles Benin Republic, acknowledges that DR Congo has qualities that could unsettle Nigeria, particularly their physical strength and set-piece prowess.
However, he believes Nigeria's superior squad depth and cohesion will ultimately prove decisive.
"Nigeria, for me, remains favourites," Rohr stated.
"But they must play with discipline and caution. Congo are a physically robust side and very dangerous from set plays, as they showed against Cameroon. Their mental strength is also high".
A win for Nigeria would serve as a morale booster ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The Super Eagles beat Gabon 4-1 to reach the final, while DR Congo stunned Cameroon 1-0 to set up the crucial encounter.
