Fourteen young referees who took charge of matches at the WAFU-B U-17 Girls Cup have been recognised for their efforts during the regional tournament, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The match officials were products of the Young Referees Development Programme organised in Ghana, which provided them with an opportunity to gain practical experience at an international youth competition.
They were presented with medals in recognition of their contribution to the successful running of the tournament and their performances across the various fixtures.
The programme offered the young referees valuable exposure to competitive matches while allowing them to work in an environment designed to support their development.
Referee assessors and other members of the refereeing support team were also recognised during the presentation for their roles in ensuring the smooth conduct of the competition.
The recognition reflects the continued efforts to develop a new generation of match officials capable of taking on greater responsibilities in West African football.
For the young referees, their involvement in the WAFU-B U-17 Girls Cup represents another important step in their development and a valuable addition to their experience on the regional stage.
