Amidst rising cases of violent disruption of matches in the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League, head of Operations of the NPFL IMC, Davidson Owumi has pleaded for all involved to help the committee ensure the league is better, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The NPFL have had series cases that can bring the league to disrupt, causing the league body to dish out varying sanctions that is appropriate for the offences.
Recently, 3 points and 3 goals were deducted and a fine of ?1.25million was imposed on Remo Stars over assault on match day official. . The General Manager of the club is to face Prosecution in Court.
All these Owumi says is the IMC trying to make sure the rules are followed and pleaded with stakeholders to support the committee.
“IMC is trying to uphold the rules and we need maximum cooperation from every stakeholder to grow the league further”.
“The few incidents that happened are regrettable and we need to stop every act that negates the principle of fair play”.
He went further to state the disadvantages of these barbaric acts to the growth of the league.
“There would be no fans to watch games if their safety can’t be protected and this will also scare investors away if we don’t stop this act of violence against each other during matches”.
