Imama Amapakabo leaves Rwandan club after relegation battle

Published on: 31 May 2024

Nigerian coach Imama Amapakabo left Etoile de l'Est following their relegation to the Rwandan second division. He joined the team in late 2023 but couldn't prevent their drop despite a strong showing in the second half of the season, Nigeriasoccernet.com gathered.

Amapakabo's arrival brought much-needed structure and tactical know-how. The team improved significantly under his guidance, even defeating some top teams.

However, a poor start to the season before his arrival proved too much to overcome.

Despite the relegation, Amapakabo left a positive mark. He's open to returning to Rwanda's competitive league and has received coaching offers in his home country, Nigeria.

Amapakabo's extensive experience, including roles with the Nigerian U-23 team, makes him a valuable asset.

He's likely to be in high demand in Nigeria's evolving football scene, where clubs are looking for experienced coaches who can bring new ideas and improve results.
