Former Nigeria international, John Mikel Obi has reiterated his desire for Super Eagles Victor Osimhen striker to join Chelsea soon, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The former Chelsea legend has not hidden his desire for his countryman to move to the blue side of London since the summer transfer window.

Obi has always believed Chelsea needed a top-notch striker and has started on many occasions that the reigning African footballer was that missing puzzle in the Chelsea squad.

In his weekly podcast "OBI ONE" the former captain of the Nigeria Super Eagles spoke unequivocally that he will continue to do all he could for the Galatasaray loanee to be a Chelsea player.

The London club had wanted to sign the Nigerian striker before the close of the summer window, but a contractual agreement could not be reached hence the move of the play to Galatasaray on loan days after the close of the window.

Obi stated that the move to Chelsea is still much alive as both parties have a cordial relationship and he will be happy to make sure the move materializes not because of favouritism, but because Osimhen is one of the best strikers in the world.

"The club is a very happy place with Victor and Victor is in a happy place with the club. I'm not going to rest, I want to make sure I get him to the club not because he is my friend, or he is like my younger brother or he is Nigerian, no. He is one of the best strikers in the world right now, he is the African best player and I know what he can bring to the club.

"So for me, I'm not just doing him a favour, I want him to come to club and help the club and I know he will do that.", Mikel Obi said.

Obi stated quietly that a deal could be struck between the player and the London side in January or next summer.
