Iliman Ndiaye says he had no doubts about joining Manchester City after leaving Everton, with the Senegalese forward already feeling fully involved in the club’s long-term project.
Ndiaye has started a new stage in his career at Manchester City, with his move from Everton taking him to the Sky Blues and setting the course for 2031. He says the club’s recent history, future plans and ambition made the decision straightforward.
The forward believes Manchester City’s record in recent seasons was enough to make the opportunity impossible to ignore. Once the club explained its plans and what it hoped to achieve with him and the rest of the team, Ndiaye said he was convinced.
“I think it is quite easy to decide whether you want to become a Manchester City player or not. You only have to look at the recent seasons and history to want to be part of the project. I was told about the project, our future prospects and what we could achieve together, the team and I. I was attracted from the beginning; I wanted nothing else but to join Manchester City,” he said, in comments reported by Wiw Sport.
The 2031 destination represents a significant change for Ndiaye, who has moved on from Everton to join a club he believes offers the platform to compete for major honours. His comments underline the strength of his commitment to Manchester City’s plans and his desire to contribute to what the club is trying to build.
For Ndiaye, winning trophies is the central objective of his time with the Citizens. Although he also expects personal progress to follow, he made clear that team success must come before individual recognition.
“Wherever you are, you want to win trophies and you set personal goals. But the team’s objective comes first. When you think about the collective, working hard comes naturally. If you have the right mentality acting for the team and the supporters individual achievements eventually come by themselves.”
That approach, he says, will shape his settling-in period at Manchester City. Rather than placing his own targets above the wider ambitions of the squad, Ndiaye intends to focus on the collective effort required to deliver success.
His first comments since the move suggest he has quickly embraced the expectations that come with joining Manchester City. Ndiaye described himself as attracted to the project from the outset and now wants to play his part in its future.
The forward’s move from Everton therefore begins with a clear priority: helping Manchester City compete for trophies. Personal rewards, in his view, should emerge naturally if the team and its supporters remain at the centre of his work.
