Ilechukwu: Rangers won’t underestimated CAF Champions League opponents

Published on: 12 July 2024

Rangers head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has warned that his team will not take their preliminary round opponents in the CAF Champions League lightly, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions were drawn against Union Sportive Zilimadjou of Comoros on Thursday, and Ilechukwu is keen to avoid complacency.

"In the continent, there are no small teams anymore," he cautioned.

"We respect our opponents in the CAF Champions League and will prepare accordingly."

Rangers will travel to Moroni, Comoros, on August 16-18 for the first leg, with the return leg scheduled for Enugu a week later.

The winner will face either St Louis of Mauritius or Angola's GDSE in the second preliminary round.

Ilechukwu's comments reflect the team's determination to make a strong impression in the competition and advance to the next stages.
