Ilechukwu: Rangers face tough task to defend the NPFL title

Published on: 12 July 2024

Rangers Technical Adviser, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has acknowledged that defending the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title will be a challenging task for his team, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Flying Antelopes won the NPFL title for the eighth time last season, but Ilechukwu is aware that replicating this success will be difficult, especially after losing some key players.

"We know it won't be easy to stay at the top," Ilechukwu told Rangers media via the club’s X platform.

“We've lost some players and need to ensure we present a strong team for the new season."

Despite the challenges, Ilechukwu is optimistic that his team can adapt and succeed.

“We'll work out a strategy and do our best. We want to present a strong team for the CAF Champions League and the new season," he added.

Rangers resumed preparations for the new season on Wednesday, with Ilechukwu focusing on rebuilding a strong squad to compete domestically and continentally.
