Ikorodu City edge 10-man Bayelsa United in 5 goal thriller

Ikorodu City's quest for the top three remained on course following a hard-fought victory over Bayelsa United in the Nigeria Premier Football League in Lagos, NigeriaSoccernet.com reports.

The Oga Boys pulled the chestnut out of the fire to beat 10-man Prosperity Boys 3-2 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos on Wednesday.

The match day 36 encounter kicked started on a high with a goal as early as the second minutes of play as the hosts struck first.

Okechukwu Nwanna headed home a beautiful cross from the skipper, Ojetoye Waliu.

Bayelsa United restored parity 9 minutes later following an own goal from Tosin Oyedokun.

Tosin Oyedokun redeemed himself with a belter from outside the box to restore Ikorodu's lead on 19 minutes.

Auwal Sadiq equalled the score for Bayelsa United again in the 26th minute with a close-range header.

Adelani Shola, with a cool header off a deflected cross from Austin, earned victory for the hosts in the 53rd minute.

The win keeps Ikorodu City in 4th place, with a point adrift of Abia Warriors, who are third.
