Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has expressed his disappointment that he could not leave Genk for a bigger club during the summer transfer window.

Onuachu painted the Belgian League with goals last season, where he scored 35 goals in all competitions and won the Ebony Shoe and Belgian Professional Footballer of The Year.

However, in an interview with Voetbalprimeur, the Nigerian international stated that he was prepared to leave the club this summer but that things didn’t just work out.

“It was one of the most difficult periods of my life. All that stress… I felt ready for the big step, but no offer came,” Onuachu said.

“Was something going on behind my back? Was it the amount Genk had put on me? Honestly, I don’t know. Nobody understands. Corona, they tell me. Come on, I don’t believe that! I scored 33 goals: then you’re always gone, aren’t you? Anyway, it doesn’t bother me anymore. I let it go.”
