Former Asante Kotoko head coach, Mas-ud Didi Dramani has revealed that his presence at the club till the end of the season was not a guarantee that he could have defended the league title, insisting he could have equally taken the team to relegation.
The Black Princesses coach was asked to proceed on leave by the management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko in February and ended up mutually parting ways following a poor start to the season.
Many football enthusiasts have since blamed the management for arriving at the decision which saw the absence of the coach attributing the team’s sixth place finish to the act but the gaffer believes that his presence at the club was not a guarantee for the league trophy.
“In football there are times that things change. A coach can have a bad season but I believed that the team would peak while the season was ongoing,” Didi told GHANAsoccernet.com
“Maybe if I had stayed on at Kotoko, the same thing or worse could have happened. Or maybe I could have defended the title. Football is not simple logic,” he added.
“It is only Allah who could know what would have happened. You never know what will happen the next day. My presence in Kotoko could have been better or worse.”
