Bachir Belloumi’s impressive start at Hull City has prompted his father, Lakhdar, to suggest the Algeria international could eventually move to a more ambitious club.
The 22-year-old winger has made an immediate impact since joining the Tigers, scoring two goals and providing two assists. Those performances have quickly established him as an important player in the English league.
Lakhdar Belloumi has been following his son’s progress closely and takes particular satisfaction from the way Bachir has adapted to football abroad.
Bachir began his career in Algeria with GC Mascara before moving to MC Oran, where he faced considerable criticism. In 2022, he chose to continue his development in Europe by signing for Portuguese club SC Farense.
His father supported that decision, encouraging him to follow his ambitions and ignore outside judgement by concentrating on hard work. Lakhdar Belloumi did not have the opportunity to play in Europe during his own career, making his son’s progress especially significant to him.
Ambitions beyond Hull City
Speaking to Winwin, Lakhdar Belloumi said his son regularly reminds him that he has fulfilled his ambition of playing professional football at the highest level outside Algeria.
Although Bachir is currently focused on delivering strong performances for Hull City, his ambitions extend beyond his present club. His father indicated that an opportunity to join a side competing for major honours would not be turned down.
Belloumi is currently valued at 6 million euros and is under contract with the Tigers until 2029. His annual salary in England is 426 190 euros, equivalent to 277 023 500 FCFA.
The winger’s form also comes as Algeria prepares for the opening match of its Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifying campaign against Zambia.
