Ghana's hope for a bright footballing future took a giant step on Thursday night when the hugely-talented midfielder Clifford Aboagye made his long-awaited debut in the Spanish top-flight for Granada on Thursday night, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.
The 19-year-old, who is seen as one of the real young stars in Ghana football, made his debut in one of the best leagues in the world when Granada played against Sevilla in Thursday's Copa del Rey match.
Aboagye, who was named the world's third best youth player at the U20 World Cup in Turkey two years ago, came on as a substitute when they were beaten 2-1 at home by Sevilla.
The youngster came on in the 74th minute of the game as a substitute for Riki, marking his first official game for the senior side of Granada.
Aboagye showed flashes of his brilliance with some eye-catching passes and dribbling skills during the game which suddenly caught the eyes of fans at the game.
The talented steamroller, who is still a member of Sellas Tetteh’s current squad, employed his extraordinary skill and artistry to create space for himself in the match.
Granada signed the youngster for five seasons after the U20 World Cup in Turkey in 2013 and has since been played in the second team of the side.
Aboagye, 19, was defined by the Andalusian club as "an extraordinary midfielder" after signing from the Ghanaian top-flight side Inter Allies.
The footballer was named the third best player of the last World Under-20 Championship in Turkey in which the Ghanaian helped the Black Satellites to finish in third position.
Aboagye joined Granada B since moving to Spain but his performances for the side looks to have convinced Joaquín Caparrós to give him the chance to impress.
This bodes well for the Ghanaian and his country as more playing time at the high level will have a trickle down effect on the Black Stars for the future.
