Brahim Hemdani is expected to name a 26-man Algeria squad on Thursday for the Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers against Togo on 14 and 17 November.
Hemdani selected 26 players for his first training camp and is likely to retain a similar squad size, although several changes are anticipated.
Luca Zidane is expected to return after completing his suspension, despite limited playing time at club level. Melvin Mastil, who started the previous camp, has not fully secured his place, while Abdellatif Ramdane could complete a goalkeeping group with no clear hierarchy.
Oussama Benbot of USM Alger and Rayan Yesli of Akbou have also been assessed, but including either would mean dropping one of the three leading candidates.
Goalkeepers expected: Mastil, Ramdane, Zidane.
Rayan Ait-Nouri is again unlikely to feature. His disagreement with the coaching staff has apparently not been resolved, while his restricted involvement at Manchester City also works against an immediate recall. Zineddine Belaid could be left out after an underwhelming previous camp.
Rafik Belghali is available again following suspension, although a knee injury sustained with Torino means his return depends on medical clearance. Mohamed Azzi’s impressive form for CSKA Moscow could earn him a place at the expense of Saadi Radouani, whose performances have been less convincing.
Samir Chergui remains vulnerable because of his fitness problems, while Rafik Messali will have to wait after suffering a serious muscle tear. Among the newly shortlisted players, left-back Fahem Benaissa-Yahia appears to have the edge over Yanis Hamache because of the shortage of options in that position. Abdelnour Soualhia is also pushing for recognition but is unlikely to be selected this month.
Defenders expected: Bensebaini, Hadjam, Touba, Nair, Abada, Belghali, Azzi, Benaissa-Yahia.
Nabil Bentaleb, who was called up in September before withdrawing, is expected to return properly despite currently being ill. His defensive midfield role and leadership were missed against Burundi. Yacine Titraoui and Hicham Boudaoui are also in line for recalls.
Himad Abdelli, Adem Zorgane and Ibrahim Maza should keep their places. Fares Chaibi is expected to retain the final midfield spot despite inconsistent recent displays, while Adil Aouchiche is at risk. A return for Houssem Aouar appears unlikely, and Ramiz Zerrouki may miss out despite his form for Twente because of competition for places.
Midfielders expected: Bentaleb, Boudaoui, Titraoui, Zorgane, Abdelli, Maza, Chaibi.
Nadhir Benbouali is unavailable through injury after an excellent run with Pyramids. Baghdad Bounedjah, who was not included in the extended list, is therefore unlikely to benefit from that absence.
Mohamed El-Amine Ramdaoui has impressed for USM Alger but is expected to remain with Rafik Saifi’s Espoirs. Amin Chiakha and Monsef Bakrar could consequently be recalled despite disappointing performances in September.
Amoura and Boulbina remain the leading options on the left, while Hadj Moussa and Belloumi are the preferred choices on the right. Fares Ghedjemis, who is improving in Serie A, is also expected to return. Ilyes Hamache has strengthened his case with impressive performances in the Eredivisie and could replace Bakrar.
Forwards expected: Amoura, Gouiri, Hadj Moussa, Belloumi, Ghedjemis, Boulbina, Hamache, Chiakha.
