Hearts General Manager Gerald Ankrah has jumped to the defense of under-fire coach Herbert Addo, insisting he’s not to be blamed for the club’s poor form this season.
The veteran trainer is under mounting pressure to quit after the side failed to make it to the FA Cup final.
The Phobians suffered their second successive defeat in the Cup match against Medeama, losing 2-1 against the Mauve and Yellows in Cape Coast on Sunday.
The defeat has angered majority of their supporters who are calling for the head of the former Aduana Stars trainer.
But the club’s chief Gerald Ankrah insists Herbert Addo should not shoulder the blame.
“Definitely the flak will go to the coach but if you take your time to assess the game, you will realize that he is not to be blamed,” he told Kumasi-based Nhyira FM
“If you do a critical analysis, you will realize that it’s not only the coach. There are instances that we create between 12-15 good chances, and that only tells you that the coach is handling the players well.
“The finishing is the problem and I doubt whether it’s the coach’s fault. I will plead with our fans to do a more critical analysis of the games.
“There are few instances that you can fault the coach but most of the time it’s not the coach. It is actually the players and how they take instructions.”
Ex-Berekum Chelsea trainer Tony Lokko has been lined up to replace the embattled veteran tactician at the end of the season.
