Heartbreaking: OGC Nice Manager Shares Insights on Moffi's AFCON Squad Omission

Published on: 05 January 2024

OGC Nice manager Francesco Farioli has disclosed Terem Moffi's disappointment after being excluded from Nigeria's 2023 Africa Cup of Nations squad, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Moffi had been included in the 41 man list initially submitted by Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro but failed failed to make the final 25 man list for the tournament in Côte d’Ivoire.

Peseiro opted for four strikers; Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Kelechi Iheanacho and Umar Sadiq in his squad for the competition.

Despite his absence, Moffi is now channeling his focus into contributing to the club, a sentiment echoed by Farioli, who expresses contentment with the forward's commitment to OGC Nice.

“I have two different feelings (on the absence of Moffi at the Africa Cup of Nations). On the one hand, regret because Terem Moffi cared a lot to represent his country, his family and his friends,” Farioli told reporters.

“But on the other hand, he is our best recruit of January and we are happy that he is with us.

“He trained with a very positive mindset with the desire to do well and put himself at the disposal of the team. We see him very focused and very determined.”
