Super Eagles coach Augustine Eguavoen has pinpointed striker Victor Boniface's tendency to over-dribble as a major obstacle to his goal-scoring success for Nigeria, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Boniface, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen, drew another blank in the Super Eagles' 1-0 win over Libya in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Friday.
Eguavoen expressed his concerns at the post-match press conference.
"Boniface is a very good striker, a clinical finisher, but he has struggled in national colors," Eguavoen said.
"Sometimes, these chances don't come. I remember it happened in Rwanda just like today. When you get half chances, players like Romario would toe-poke the ball."
"But Boniface likes to dress and dress and then defenders recover. If he decides on time, Boniface will score a lot of goals."

Eguavoen's assessment comes after Boniface also failed to score against Rwanda and Benin Republic last month.
