Guinea captain Ibrahima Traore has apologized for his team’s poor performance in the 3-0 defeat to Ghana on Sunday.
The Syli National who had impressed with their unique brand of football in the early stages of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations were far below average against the Black Stars in the quarter final clash in Malabo.
Ghana took fool advantage of their sterile performance to clobber them 3-0 to set up a semi final date with hosts Equatorial Guinea.
The depressing performance got captain Ibrahima Traore apologizing to his compatriots for his team’s poor showing against Ghana.
“It is the way we performed that is the most disappointing thing,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.
“We didn’t perform good and we knew we had to perform really well to beat a team like Ghana.
“To continue to go very far in the competition, we needed to beat a big team and today we didn’t perform well against a big team – that is what is disappointing.
“Of course the people back home will be disappointed. We have given them a lot of joy in this tournament and now to perform like this?
“I want to apologize to the fans back home and hope we do better for them next time.”
