Super Eagles midfield, Alex Iwobi has expressed his appreciation for the award bestowed as the Midfielder of the year, 2023, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Nigeria Pitch Award, a football ceremony put together to celebrate the contribution and performance of football players and stakeholders yesterday in the gala night announced Fulham forward, Iwobi as Midfielder of the year 2023.
Iwobi on getting the award, posted the picture of the award with the caption “Grateful” on his X platform.

Iwobi with the Super Eagles finished runners up at 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in February 2024 although the skillful creative mind was widely criticized which at some point birthed the speculation of his retirement from the national team.
Upon his commitment to his fatherland, Iwobi has since gone ahead to play for Nigeria in the last three games after the AFCON including 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
The former Arsenal midfielder will be need to provided the magic like his did with his assist in the last game when Nigeria take on the Squirrels of Benin Republic.
