Gombe United embark on a 10-day election break

The management of Gombe United Fc has approved a 10- day mid-season break to allow the players participate in the forthcoming General Elections scheduled for this weekend.

While urging the players to ensure maintaining their fitness in the course of the break, the Technical Adviser of the club, Aliyu Zubairu explained that they are expected to resume on Match 2,2023, so as to prepare well for the second round of the league.

The Savannah Scorpions rounded up their 2023 NPFL first round camping with a hard fought 3-2 win over Plateau United at the Pantami stadium, Gombe.

Goals from Anayo Ogbonna and Rahman Olarenwaju in the first half and Muhamadou Souley's penalty goal in the added time of the ninety minutes gave Gombe United their second home win of the season.

The Savannah Scorpions go to the break sitting sixth on the group A log with 10 points in nine games; two wins,4 draws and three loss, scoring seven goals in the process.

Gombe United will be guests to Plateau United when hostilities return in the second round.
