Golden Eaglets dominate WAFU U-17 Best XI

After a successful outing by the Golden Eaglets at the WAFU U-17 tournament in Ghana, five of the players were named in the tournament's best XI.

The players are Idris Abubakar, Emmanuel Michael, Jeremiah Olaleke, Yahaya Lawali and goalkeeper Richard Odoh.

Emmanuel Michael of Super Eagles' Moses Simon's academy scored three brilliant free kicks in the tournament, the LB also grabbed  three consecutive Man of the Match awards for his brilliant displays in the two group games and the semi-finals.

While Odoh was named the best player in the final against Burkina Faso which ended 2-1 in favour of the Eaglets.

Meanwhile Eaglets manager Nduka Ugbade was named Coach of the Tournament, after leading his side to victory in all their four games.

The team defeated hosts Ghana 4-2 in their first game before ending the group stage with a 3-1 win against Togo.

In the semi-finals, they came from a goal down to beat Côte d’Ivoire 3-1, a game which saw Emmanuel Michael score two brilliant freekicks.

The Golden Eaglets beat Burkina Faso in the final 2-1 with both goals coming from Idris Abubakar.
