Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets have completed the mandatory MRI screening required ahead of the 2026 WAFU B U-17 Championship in Burkina Faso, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
A team official confirmed that the age-verification exercise and other medical procedures have been concluded, with the final 26-man squad expected to be submitted next week.
The screening forms part of the requirements for teams participating in the regional competition as the Golden Eaglets continue their preparations for the championship.
The Nigerian side has been in camp in Abuja for several weeks, giving the technical crew enough time to assess the players and identify those who will make the final squad for the tournament.
The 2026 WAFU B U-17 Championship is scheduled to take place in Burkina Faso in October, with seven countries expected to participate.
Nigeria, hosts Burkina Faso, Ghana, Benin Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Niger Republic and Togo are set to compete for the two qualification places allocated to the WAFU B zone for the CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Golden Eaglets will be hoping to navigate the group stage and knockout rounds successfully and secure one of the two tickets to the continental tournament.
The coaching crew is expected to continue its final assessment of the players before the squad list is officially submitted ahead of the competition.
