Stephen Adams chopped from the provisional Ghana squad

Stephen Adams, Enoch Adu Kofi and Albert Adomah are the major casualties from the first venomous action by coach Avram Grant as the trio have been dropped from Ghana’s provisional squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

Adams who plays for Ghana Premier League club Aduana Stars was unable to make the first cut despite being ranked ahead of the experienced Fatau Dauda during the qualifiers.

Dauda meanwhile makes the squad and is joined by DR Congo-based goalkeeper Ernest Sowah.

They will be joined to compete in the goalkeeping department by Razak Brimah who did not travel to Ghana during the Christmas break.

Enoch Adu Kofi could count himself unlucky after being dropped from the provisional squad despite being one of the most active Ghanaian players in Europe in recent years.

He was unable to upstage any of his competitors in Ghana’s inundated midfield area.

Also excluded from the squad that travels to Spain on Sunday evening to commence camping are Alfred Duncan and Abdul Majeed Waris.

Waris who plays for Turkish club Trabzonspor could however return to the side once he recovers fully in time from injury ahead of the naming of the final squad.

Mahatma Otoo who was reportedly called up in place of Waris has also been dropped as is Ebenezer Assifuah who was also reported to have been handed a late call up.

Avram Grant will be taking a squad of 26 players to his pre-tournament camp in Seville, Spain.

Twenty three players will be traveling from Accra with trio – Andre Ayew, Jeffery Schlupp and Razak Brimah expected to join up with the team in Spain.

Christian Atsu, John Boye and Mubarak Wakaso have joined the team in Accra for the trip to Spain on Sunday night.

The Black Stars will camp in Seville for 10 days and will leave for their base in Mongomo on January 14.

Avram Grant will however need to further prune down his squad to 23 – the required number for the tournament being staged by Equatorial Guinea by January 7.

Ghana's provisional 26-man squad:

Goalkeepers: Razak Braimah (Mirandes, Spain), Fatau Dauda (AshGold) and Ernest Sowah (Don Bosco, DR Congo)

All together the cuts are not bad although I would have preferred that we keep Duncan who is cast in the mould of Muntari. Moreover we have lost many left footed players in recent times including Kwadwo Asamoah, Muntari and possibly Atsu. .As for Adams, it is not surprising because it was a straight choice between him and Dauda and since Dauda has more experience, has been more active lately and is not taking his team to relegation, it makes sense that he is favoured over Adams. with the players left, it is obvious Kwasi appiah will be dropped, Moro and one more defender.

Still, with the rest of the players the coach should monitor the injury situation of Atsu, Waris and Schlupp before making any more cuts. That will inform whether he invites any more players or not for the positions available.

So what does this Nassamu Yakubu have seen about this Fatau Dauda? Personally i don't like Stephen Adams delay tactics any time he is keeping the post, But naturally in goal keeping he is by far a better goal keeper than Fatau Dauda. If this man continues to be the head coach for our national team, we will never have any reliable goal keeper for our national team for years to come because he will never build any goal keepers confidence in the national team to over take his favorite Fatau Dauda's position. God go Punish You...Tweeaaaaaaa Coach.
