GN Bank Division One League

Referee Alex Akugre and assistants referees Theophilus Akugre, Paul Aduko and Joshua Noah have been charged on one count after the GN Bank Division One League match between Unity FC and Bofoakwa played at Goaso on April 29.

After the said match, while on their way from the Police Station to the Lorry Station in the car of a club official of Unity FC called Nii Lokko, he demanded an amount of Three Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc3000.00) from the match officials and accused them of failing to “help” his club Unity FC to win the match as earlier agreed.

Nii Lokko is alleged to have said that he suspects that the away club gave the match officials more money and they returned the said amount to Nii Lokko in violation of the GFA Regulations.

The referee and his assistants have been hereby charged for a breach of Article 68 of the Disciplinary Code and Articles 35(5), 35(7)(a), 35(7)(d) and 35(14) of the GFA General Regulations in respect of this match.

They are therefore expected to submit their written Statement of Defence to the charge(s) on or before May 21, 2015 on or before 5pm at the GFA Secretariat or through email address to the Disciplinary Committee [email protected] failing which the Disciplinary Committee shall proceed to adjudicate the case without their Statement of Defence.

Should they choose Defence Options 3 (Personal Hearing) in their Statement of Defence, they will attend the Disciplinary Committee, Friday, May 22, 2015 at 4pm at the GFA Secretariat to answer to the charge(s), failure which the Disciplinary Committee shall proceed to adjudicate the case in their absence.
