Super Falcons striker Gift Monday has joined Major League Soccer (MLS) club Boston Legacy FC from Washington Spirit in a permanent transfer worth $500,000.
The 24-year-old Nigeria forward leaves Washington Spirit after making 48 regular-season appearances for the club. She scored 12 goals and provided three assists during her time there.
Monday made NWSL history in September 2025 by scoring the fastest hat-trick from kick-off in the competition’s history. She scored three times in 35 minutes and 52 seconds during Washington Spirit’s match against Houston Dash.
The forward is currently away on international duty with Nigeria, who are preparing for their 2028 Olympic Games qualifying fixture against Comoros.
“I’m very happy and honored to be here today as I officially join this wonderful club,” Monday told Boston Legacy FC’s official website.
Boston Legacy confident Monday will strengthen attack
Boston Legacy FC general manager Dome Guasch said Monday’s qualities would give the team greater variety in the final third.
“Gift brings a unique set of qualities as a forward that will add another dimension to our attack. She will contribute to our high press, create opportunities and be dangerous in the final third,” Guasch said.
“She’s also a team player, and that matters to us as much as her quality on the pitch.”
Monday began her professional career in Spain with UD Tenerife, where she made more than 65 appearances and registered 26 goal contributions across nearly 4,500 minutes of action.
Before moving to Spain, she played for Nigerian clubs FC Robo and COD United Amazons. Those spells provided the early experience that helped establish her professional career.
At international level, Monday made her senior debut for the Nigeria women’s national team in 2019. She was later selected for Nigeria’s 23-player squad at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Her move to Boston Legacy FC is the latest step in a career that has taken her from Nigeria to Spain and the United States. She will now look to continue building on her achievements in the US while contributing to the Super Falcons.
