GHANAsoccernet.com’s Ameenu Shardow was awarded the Best Online Reporter for the year 2014 at the maiden edition of the Sports Excellence awards on Friday night.

The 27-year-old was adjudged the best in the category which was contested by three others; Christopher Opoku, Edmund Okai Gyimah and Prince Dornu Leiku.

Shardow’s consistent work as one of the leading writers for GHANAsoccernet.com has gained worldwide recognition.

He was handed his award at a ceremony organized at the British Council on Friday night.

Athlete Martha Bissah won the flagship Best Sports Personality award for her gold winning feat at 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in China.

She beat Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, Judoka Razak Abugri and Boxer Patrick Allotey to the award.

Gyan however received a special award for breaking Roger Milla’s record as the all-time leading African scorer in the history of the World Cup finals.

Asante Kotoko also received an award as the Best Sporting club while Die Hard Supporters Union were adjudged the Best Supporters Group for 2014.

DR Congo-based Solomon Asante was also awarded as the Unsung Hero for the Year 2014.
