Ghana’s Sports minister Dr Mustaph Ahmed has given the clearest hint that departed legendary coach Jones Attuquayefio will be given a befitting state burial.

The 70-year-old passed away on Tuesday at the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital  after battling cancer for eight years.

The country’s sports minister is leading a high-powered delegation to visit the family of the deceased trainer.

The delegation includes president of the Ghana FA Kwesi Nyantakyi as well as high ranking officials of the FA and the ministry of Youth and Sports.

“Government is considering offering him a befitting state burial for his immense contribution to football in Ghana,” Dr Mustapha Ahmed said during the visit

“Jones was an incredible football figure and will be fondly remembered by all Ghanaians.

“We wish to express our sincere condolences to the family, Hearts of Oak and the Ghanaian football fraternity.

The legendary Ghanaian coach guided Hearts to win the CAF Champions League, CAF Confederation Cup and the Super Cup during his illustrious coaching career.
