Ghanaian side Right to Dream Academy won the prestigious Gothia Cup tournament in dramatic fashion for the second time in a row after defeating home side Kalmar 2-1 in the final of the U17 tournament in Sweden on Saturday.
The Ghanaians had to come from a goal down to win the match with eight minutes remaining thanks to a strike by striker Isaac Atanga to seal the comeback and the title.
With agent from top clubs in Sweden and elsewhere in Europe watching for new talents, the Ghanaians wasted no time to stamp their authority on the game and show the world some of the up and coming talents in the country.
Right to Dream played in the prestigous final in the B17 Elite class, this time against the Swedish team Kalmar FF to cement their status among some of the top teams in the world to have won the competition.
With a crowded Gamla Ullevi stadium, all the spectators would see Kalmar FF score the first goal in the game. Twelve minutes in, Diako Eliassi scored 1-0 with a header after a corner.
A lot of people probably got surprised, because of how big favorites the team from Ghana is in the tournament and that everybody expects to win.
Some minutes later Right to Dream had a good opportunity to score by Ibrahim Sadiq, but he missed.
Kalmar FF then had some good chances to extend their lead but without success.
The last chance in the first half went to Right to Dream, but a Kalmar player blocked the shot in the penalty area. 0-1 was the half time result.
In the second half, Right to Dream scored the equalizer in the minute 47? of the game. The score was made by Frank Arhin from a close distance in the penalty area. The game was now tied and open.
With eight minutes left of the game, Isaac Atanga had a break away, ran very quickly and scored with his left foot.
Right to Dream had turned the game around and Kalmar FF started to chase an equalizer.
They never scored another goal though and Right to Dream won the Tipselit Trophy for the second year in a row.
