Players at Swedish club Halmstad BK including Ghanaian duo of Joseph Baffo and King Osei Gyan have questioned the design of the club’s new away kit.
Defender Jesper Westerberg took to Twitter to express his dissatisfaction about the new design “Are you joking?” after being handed the neon yellow and green shirt by the club’s kitman.
Neither of the two Ghanaian players have officially made any public comments about the 'disgusting' kits but it is believed they are equally unhappy with the kits.
The design, that resembles a garish turtle shell, is an eye-opener and reminiscent of some of football’s weirder kits from the 1990s.
“When I came to training in the morning the kit man wanted to show me something. Then he showed me that shirt. And he wasn’t joking. There was a whole box of them,” Westerberg told Aftonbladet.
Westerberg, who will wear the shirt when Halmstad begin their Swedish league campaign with both Baffo and Gyan in April, described the top as a “turtle-patterned shirt beyond the ordinary".
Designers have been a little kinder to the home shirt – it will remain blue and free of turtle-patterns and neon.
Both Gyan and Baffo are going into their second seasons with Halmstad BK.
