Ghana striker Kwesi Appiah has described himself as a mix-bag of his idols; Thierry Henry, Ian Wright and Dennis Bergkamp.

The 24-year-old became the biggest surprise inclusion to the Black Stars’ squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

Appiah was called up by Ghana at the tail end of his loan stint with English League Two side Cambridge United.

The Crystal Palace man even scored on his debut for Ghana in the friendly win over Olhanense.

Appiah describes himself as a creative player cast in the mould of bit and pieces of his idols.

“How would I describe myself? I like to threaten in behind,” Appiah revealed.

“I like to come and get the ball short and dribble, feed people in and be creative.

“Growing up my idols were the likes of Thierry Henry, Ian Wright and Dennis Bergkamp, so throughout my career I’ve taken little parts of their games and tried to add them to mine.

“Most importantly, I like to score goals, that’s what all strikers like to do.”
