The Ghana FA is preparing a highly powered delegation to officially inform government of the passing of legendary coach Jones Attuquayefio.
The former Ghana international passed on to glory on Tuesday morning having lost his protracted battle with cancer at age 70.
Attuquayefio having been honoured as a Member of the Order of the Volta (Civil Division Ghana) in 1973 to earn him the title ‘Sir’ makes him a state asset.
The GFA is thus planning to officially inform government of his death after completing all consultations with the bereaved family.
“We will be discussing this development at an Executive Committee meeting in the coming days,” GFA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie Daara told Joy News.
“After consultations with the family, the GFA will have to officially inform government of his death.
“We believe government is very interested in this development since he is a member of the Order of the Volta.
“We think it is only proper and appropriate to make news of his death official to the state.”
Attuquayefio was a member of Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations winning squad of 1965.
