The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has denied reports it is planning to sack Sellas Tetteh, the coach of the national U20 side the Black Satellites.
The team crashed out in the round of 16 of the FIFA U-20 World Cup after shocking 3-0 hammering by Mali despite high expectations for the team to excel at the tournament.
This sparked calls for the sacking of Tetteh who is the only coach of an African side to have won the U20 World Cup as he led the Black Satellites to Africa's only World Cup title so far.
The rumours birthed reports that the GFA is on a ‘cleaning mission’, with the coaches of the Black Satellites, led by Tetteh, to be shown the exit door.
But GFA Director of Communications, Ibrahim Sannie, has revealed that they have no plans to dispense with the coaches of the Black Satellites.
“We have heard there reports of the imminent sacking the Black Satellites coach Sellas Tetteh,” Sannie said, “We don’t know where those rumours are coming from.
“As far as I know, there is nothing like that, we have no plans to that effect. Their report from the U20 World Cup will be considered before any decision is taken. So there is nothing in this," Sannie told a local radio station in Accra.
