Ghana FA charge Great Olympics, officials and players for misconduct and violence

Great Olympics, two of its officials and two players face separate charges each of misconduct and violence.

The Ghana Football Association prosecutor announced the charges for their behaviour following their Premier League match against WAFA SC played at Red Bull Park at Sogakope on 25 January, 2015.

Head coach Kassim M. Ocansey and Goalkeepers coach Cudjoe A. Agyeben assaulted and insulted the referee leading to the intervention of security personnel detailed at the venue to keep the match officials on the field of play for ten minutes before going to their dressing room.

Players Daniel Appiah and Joshua Akefie have also been charged each for separate charges each of misconduct and violence as they assaulted the referee insulted and threatened the referee after the match.

Their actions is said to have breached Article 56 and 58 of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Code and Article 35(1)(b) of the GFA General Regulations.

All four are required to submit their written Statement of Defence to the charge(s) on or before Friday, 13th February, 2015 on or before 5pm at the GFA Secretariat failure which the Disciplinary Committee shall proceed to adjudicate the case without their Statement of Defence.

Further to that, Accra Great Olympics has been charged with misconduct by their officials, players and supporters for a breach of Articles 35(2), 35(1)(b) and 35(3)(c) of the GFA General Regulations (GFA Regulations) in respect of their match day three (3).

The club are said to have failed to control your club officials, players and supporters when they held the match officials hostage and verbally abused the match officials and physical attacked the match officials after the league match.

Great Olympics has also been given till Friday February 13 (before 5pm) to submit their written Statement of Defence to the charge.
