Ghana’s assistant coach Maxwell Konadu insists the side is desperate to avoid playing in the third-place playoff at the 2015 AFCON.
The Black Stars have often choked at this point of the competition in recent editions of the tournament as they come up against tournament hosts Equatorial Guinea on Thursday.
Ghana, after recovering from a disastrous start to their campaign have gradually gotten themselves in the position to end a long awaited African Cup title drought this term.
The team will however need to scale the final hurdle in the tournament hosts on Thursday to have a shot at the title which they’ve not won in over three decades.
Black Stars’ assistant coach Maxwell Konadu says the side is eager for a win over Equatorial Guinea to avoid playing in the ‘difficult’ third-pace playoff.
“One difficult game in this tournament is the third-place playoff,” he said.
“We find it very difficult to motivate players to come out for a third place match but that is the arrangement and we just have to follow it.
“But it’s not easy playing in the third place so this time around we just want to make sure we avoid it.”
