Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila says he is making a deliberate effort to add goal scoring to his game.
The 22-year-old scored his second goal in five game for Al Qadsia in their 3-0 win over Al Sulaibikhat in a Kuwaiti top flight match played on Saturday.
Sumaila’s tally could have been three by now having seen his goal-bound header cleared off the line in Al Qadsia’s AFC Cup win over Ahal.
The on-loan Mamelodi Sundowns player says he has been working on adding value to himself as a defender by making significant contributions in attack.
“I am a defender but the game of football has changed a lot nowadays in the sense that it is not enough being just a defender,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.
“The best defenders in the world now also score goals to help their team and that is what I want to do.
“I have been practicing goal scoring at training especially with set pieces and I think it is the reason I have score two goals since I came here [Al Qadsia].
“I want to add goal scoring to my game.”
