Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila put up an impressive display to help Al Qadsia to a 1-0 win at Erbil in the AFC Cup on Wednesday.
The Kuwaiti club secured top spot in Group C of Asia’s second tier club competition with a late strike from Danijel Subotic.
It was however the Al Qadsia defence – marshalled by Rashid Sumiala – that received most of the plaudits for ensuring the side came away with the win in the game played in Doha.
Al Qadsia kept a clean sheet to make Subotic’s 77th minute strike count in their away clash.
The Kings are now top of Group C three points clear of closest contenders Erbil.
