Ghana defender Awal Mohammed could make his debut for Al Shabab in their Asian Champions League clash against Asamoah Gyan’s Al Ain on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old has been training with his new club for the past week having returned from the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
Awal joined the Saudi club while he was away with Ghana at the Nations Cup staged in Equatorial Guinea.
The former Maritzburg United defender passed a routine medical and signed a contract with the White Lions last week in a deal whose details remain concealed.
Awal could however be handed the audacious task of marking compatriot Asamoah Gyan on his anticipated debut on Tuesday.
Al Shabab hope to make a strong start to their group campaign in this season’s Asian Champions League with a famous away win over the UAE giants.
Al Ain themselves are looking to bounce back from a disappointing defeat suffered in the league – which coincided with the return of their lethal striker Asamoah Gyan who was also coming back from the 2015 AFCON.
