Ghana coach Avram Grant has named a vibrant squad to face Senegal and Mali next week in France with Tunisia-based Seidu Salifu the only newcomer in the list of 22 players.

But captain Asamoah Gyan has been excluded after failing to recover from an infection which sidelined him for last Wednesday’s Asian Champions League Group match for Al Ain.

In his absence, FC Sion youngster Ebenezer Assifuah has replaced him for the double assignments.

Salifu, who plays Tunisian Ligue 1 leaders Club Africain, has been consistent for the Reds this term.

He has made 18 league appearances and scored one goal.

Majority of the players are from the squad which won silver at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

Making a return to the club is Leicester City versatile defender Jeffrey Schlupp who was accused of feigning injury to miss tournament.

Goalkeeper Fatau Dauda is the only home-based player to have made the cut.

The Black Stars will play their first match against Senegal on 28 March before taking on Mali three days later.

Ghana squad:

Goalkeepers: Razak Braimah (Mirandes, Spain) and Fatau Dauda (AshGold)

Defenders: Harrison Afful (Esperance, Tunisia), John Boye (Erciyesspor, Turkey), Jonathan Mensah (Evian, France), Jeffery Schlupp (Leicester City, England), Baba Rahman (Augsburg, Germany), Gyimah Edwin (Mpumalanga Black Aces, South Africa), Daniel Amartey, (FC Copenhagen, Denmark)

Midfielders: Rabiu Mohammed (Krasnodar, Russia), Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu (Udinese, Italy), Afriyie Acquah (Sampdoria, Italy), Solomon Asante (T.P. Mazembe, DR Congo), Christian Atsu (Everton, England), Mubarak Wakaso (Celtic, Scotland), Andre Ayew (Olympique Marseille, France), Frank Acheampong (Anderlecht, Belgium) and Seidu Salifu (Club Africain, Tunisia)

Strikers: Jordan Ayew (Lorient, France), Kwesi Appiah (Crystal Palace, England) and Ebenezer Assifuah (Sion, Switzerland), Mahatma Otoo (Songdal, Norway)

I really think things are not than or put the way it should be, concerning the call up for the friendly match between ghana vrs Senegal. Why must the GFA ignore some players playing active soccer lyk de uefa europa cup and at de same time these players are doing exploits in thier local league. An example is Samuel Afum, some one should explain to me y there is no need for de coach to include him in de friendly.Playing for young boys is never a joke and lying second on their local league with Basel leading, this is never a joke.So is the GFA closing his eyes on fact or reality on de ground concerning Ghana soccer. Pls dont kill de dreams of these players. And to the best of my knowledge with the crop of players called for de friendly are not playing active soccer and some are injured. Eiiiii hmmmm a word to a wise is enough. Tanks
