The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has formed a five-member committee to identify and recommend a successor to Carlos Queiroz as head coach of the Black Stars.
The announcement was made in an official statement over the weekend, following a meeting between the GFA’s leadership and the Ministry in Accra on Friday, 2 October 2026.
Former Ghana Football Association vice-president Fred Pappoe will chair the committee. He brings extensive experience in football administration and governance to the process.
Pappoe will be joined by four other members: Anthony Baffoe, secretary-general of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) and a former Ghana international; Agbesi Dzakpasu (Esq.), a lawyer and football administrator; former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah; and high-performance specialist Faisal Chibsah.
The GFA said the committee’s mandate was to “identify, assess and recommend a suitable candidate” for the vacant Black Stars coaching position.
It is expected to submit its report to the Ghana Football Association after completing its work.
The post became available on Thursday, 1 October 2026, when Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz resigned following the September international window.
The federation and the Ministry said they wanted to reassure the people of Ghana that the recruitment process would be transparent and based on merit.
They added that the aim was to appoint a competent coach capable of leading the Black Stars in their upcoming competitions.
Applicants interested in the role have been asked to submit their application and CV to [email protected].
