Ghana's strong squad for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers and 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers has been boosted with news that midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah can return to training in two weeks' time with his Italian side Juventus.

The Black Stars playmaker, who missed the recent 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, because of the serious knee injury was given the positive news after a check-up with the specialist who carried out the surgery that ruled him out of Africa's flagship football competition.

The Juventus ace has been out since November after undergoing surgery to repair cartilage in his left knee.

The Bianconeri have announced that the former Udinese man will soon return to training which means he will be fit to return to action for Ghana in important qualifiers later in the year.

“Kwadwo Asamoah… returned to Barcelona yesterday for a check-up following his knee surgery in December," the Juventus statement read.

“Dr. Ramon Cugat, who performed the operation, said he was extremely satisfied with the progress made by the midfielder and gave him the green light to start running again within the next two weeks.

“Further tests will be conducted in the next month to ascertain his exact return date.”

Kwadwo Asamoah's return to training means he will be fit for Ghana's qualifiers for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations which start in June.

If he maintains his fitness he will also be available for the Black Stars in their qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup to be played in Russia.

Ghana had a strong and young squad that played at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea and Asamoah's presence will further boost the squad's depth.

The Old guards should be completely reiieved of their duties. Essien, Muntari, Asamoah Gyan and pPrince Boateng should dropped once and for all. Their time is up.

The 2018 World Cup would see the strongest Black Stars squad yet. With Andre Ayew, Kwadwo Asamoah, Christian Atsu, Afriyie Acquah, Wakaso, Frank Achemapong, Jordan Ayew and these emerging young defenders, plus such a good coach in Avram Grant, I am just keeping my fingers crossed.
