Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew has issued an apology to Ghanaians for narrowly missing out on the  just concluded 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Olympique Marseille ace believes he and his teammates can put lessons from their brave performance in the final against Ivory Coast to good use and bounce back stronger.

Ghana lost 9-8 in a dramatic penalty shootout  last Sunday night in Bata.

Ayew, who won the tournament's top scorer prize with three goals and two assists,

"I've had a few days to reflect on my emotions and I want to sincerely apologize to all Ghanaians for not bringing the cup home," the 25-year-old posted on his instagram page.

"We gave our best but unfortunately our best wasn't good enough this time. But this blow has only made us stronger and hungrier to bring the cup home soon inshallah!

"Although we were not able to put a smile in your hearts with a winning trophy for our country, all my hard work was not in vain because I was able to win the goal king award for you.

"Thank you for all your support and most importantly believing in me because I couldn't have done it without you. God bless you. AA"
