The 25-year-old signed for Newcastle last summer for £14.5m, but he failed to guide his side to Premier League survival, as Newcastle were relegated despite Wijnaldum playing in all 38 PL games.
Wijnaldum became Newcastle's record signing under owner Mike Ashley, who will be extremely pleased to net more than a £10m profit on the player of the course of a year.

Despite failing to help the Geordies avoid relegation, the Dutch international was a shining light in an otherwise dire season for Newcastle. He finished as the club's top goalscorer, scoring 11 as well as claiming five assists.
Wijnaldum would become Liverpool's fourth summer signing, with Joel Matip and Loris Karius already making the move from the Bundesliga while Sadio Mané signed from Southampton for £35m.
