Former Swansea boss Garry Monk is reportedly in talks with Leeds United to become their new head coach following Lee Evans' departure, Sky Sports reports.
The 37-year-old has been out of work since being sacked by the Swansea City board last December following a poor run of results that left them staring at the abyss.
But following Lee Evan's sacking on Tuesday evening, reports claim Monk has emerged the hot favourite to become Leeds owner Massimo Cellino's seventh manager in just two years.
Evans, who took over just last October, had steered the Whites to a respectable 13th placed finish in the Championship, but Cellino cut short his stay after stating a "different approach" was needed to improve next season.
The former Crawley Town boss had still been at the helm whilst Cellino held talks with initial target MK Dons boss Karl Robinson, and Evans admitted his disappointment at the way things were being handled.
He said: "I'm hurting at not knowing my future but I respect the right of the club to make big decisions at a time and manner that suits."
Robinson, however, declined the offer to become Leeds head coach after talks with Cellino last week, but it is understood Monk has become the Leeds board's top target.
The former Swansea boss has only managed one side, but his time in Wales started off well after the 2015/16 saw the Englishman guide the Swans to their highest ever Premier League points total and finishing in 8th place.
But he was replaced by Francesco Guidolin in January and the former Udinese boss managed to steer the Swans away from relegation after an impressive end to the season.
