Frosinone claimed a 3-2 victory over Venezia on Sunday, 6 September, securing three points in a dramatic third-round Serie A match and extending their opponents’ losing run to three successive defeats.
The home side established control during the first half, with Antonio Raimondo scoring twice to give Frosinone a two-goal advantage before the interval.
Frosinone opened the scoring in the 21st minute. Anthony Oyono provided the assist, with Raimondo finishing the move to put the hosts in front.
Raimondo struck again 18 minutes later, doubling Frosinone’s lead in the 39th minute. This time, Patrizio Masini supplied the pass as the home team appeared to be moving towards a relatively comfortable victory.
Venezia, however, responded after the break and quickly transformed the contest. The visitors scored twice between the 66th and 74th minutes, bringing the game level and putting Frosinone’s early advantage at risk.
John Yeboah scored Venezia’s first goal during that spell, giving the visitors renewed momentum. Richie Sagrado then found the net to make it 2-2, completing a rapid comeback and leaving the match finely balanced with 16 minutes of normal time remaining.
Frosinone recovered from that setback and delivered the decisive moment seven minutes before the end of the 90 minutes. Giorgi Kvernadze scored in the 83rd minute to restore the hosts’ lead and ultimately settle the match in Frosinone’s favour.
The result leaves Frosinone with six points after three matches. Venezia, meanwhile, remain without a victory in the competition after suffering their third defeat in a row.
Raimondo’s first-half double gave Frosinone the platform for success, but the final scoreline reflected a match that became increasingly competitive in the second half. Venezia’s two goals in an eight-minute period cancelled out the hosts’ advantage, only for Kvernadze to decide the contest with his late effort.
Frosinone therefore held on to take all three points despite conceding twice after half-time. Venezia’s latest loss means they have now been beaten in each of their opening three fixtures, while Frosinone move on with a six-point total following their home win.
