French side Lorient have rubbished reports that their Ghana international striker Jordan Ayew is on the verge of joining German giants Borussia Dortmund.

The 23-year-old is reported to have reached an agreement with the Bundesliga side over the move which was reported to be on the verge of completion.

However, Lorient insist that Ayew, who has also been linked with English sides Aston Villa and Everton, has reached no agreement with any club.

"Jordan Ayew has not signed a contract with Borussia Dortmund, nor with any other club," Lorient said in a statement on their official website.

"The Ghana international striker was present Thursday morning in training with his team-mates of Lorient."

Ayew has three years left on his contract with Lorient after joining the club from their French top-flight rivals Marseille.

English side Aston Villa were reported joined a list of clubs interested in signing Ghana striker Jordan Ayew.

Ayew is a Ghana international, and the younger brother of Andre Ayew, who netted against the United States in last summer’s World Cup, and who also recently moved to England to join Swansea.

Lorient are reportedly seeking a fee similar to that commanded by Amavi and Gueye, and it remains to be seen whether or not Tim Sherwood will be satisfied meeting their evaluation.

Ayew still has plenty of time to develop, and at 23, he is just coming into the most important years of his career, and would certainly be an interesting player to see in the claret in blue next year, should a deal go through.
