Former Nigeria international, Tijani Babangida believes the Super Eagles will have a good tournament at the African Nations Championship (Chan) which gets underway on January 16 in Rwanda.

Nigeria are one of 16 countries that will take part in the tournament reserved for footballers who ply their trade in their domestic leagues.

Babangida, a current member of the Super Eagles backroom staff, believes positive things can be achieved by the current crop in Rwanda.

“The last time (2014), we qualified for the semifinals and finished in third place.

“This time, we want to win the title. Any other outcome will be unacceptable.

“Though in football, anything can happen but this team is going to Rwanda to fight and see that they get the trophy,” Babangida told SABC.

He added that the fighting spirit of the team puts them in a great position to beat all-comers in Rwanda.

“I have watched this team from the qualifying matches in the Chan and I see how they play.

“Also, the players in the squad are the best in the league.

“I saw the fighting spirit in the boys when we played our qualifying game away to Burkina Faso.

“We have full confidence in the boys and we are hoping for success in Rwanda,” he said.
